Everyday US and metric measurements
Whether planning travel, cooking from an international recipe or comparing product specifications, unit conversion makes measurements easier to understand. US customary and metric systems use different conventions, especially for distance, weight, temperature and volume.
Which gallons and pounds are used?
The gallon conversion uses the US liquid gallon (not the Imperial gallon). Weight conversions use the international avoirdupois pound. Distances use the international mile. Temperature conversion uses the Fahrenheit and Celsius formulas, which have an offset rather than a simple multiplier.
Precision
Display rounding is for convenience; engineering, clinical or compliance work may require a verified specification and higher precision. The calculator runs entirely in your browser.
